At the moment that this post is appearing, I'll most likely be back in my hometown of Montreal eating good food and enjoying the company of good friends or I'll just be buried under a bunch of comforters and snoring away in bed. Either one of these options would make me happy but I wish that I could say that Sally Hansen's Rose a Go Go from the Insta-Dri line made me happy too. The colour is definitely what I would classify as a "work" shade as it's somewhat neutral pink creme and nice looking without being to eye catching or attention grabbing. However, the formula leaves a lot to be desired. It was a bit too thin and had almost no durability to it at all. In the photo, you can see some small chips and wear which is problematic as this is less than 9 hours of wear. It doesn't matter how much you've paid for a polish when this is the kind of wear you get out of it. It just boils down to a waste of money.

Brownstone by China Glaze
If there was a polish collection that I was really looking forward to it was China Glaze's Metro collection. I like a nature break every now and then but I am a city girl at heart and lord knows I love Fall, Fall colours, Fall fashions etc., so my anticipation was quite high for Metro. I picked up 3 colours and first up is Brownstone. I really do have a thing for red toned browns even though they don't go with everything and are nowhere near a neutral colour. They look good on me and I'm going to keep wearing them, however, I did debate buying Brownstone since I just picked up Essie's Very Structured and was concerned about them being too similar. Fortunately they are different, with Essie's VS being the more muted of the two and Brownstone being a lot redder. But if I had to choose between the two, I would lean towards Very Structured strictly because of the formula of Brownstone. It was very thick and sticky and while that's good for coverage, it's even better for bubbles to form in your polish! They started to form by the time I reached my index finger and in my experience, bubbling polish takes longer to dry and that's a pain. So I'm giving Brownstone a marginal thumbs up, mainly because of the colour.

Dupioni by Joe Fresh & A New Frankenpolish
So it finally snowed in T.O. so I thought it might be a good time to break out Dupioni by Joe Fresh, a white shimmer that came in their Holiday gift set that included Midas. This word rang no bells for me at all so I had to look it up to find that Dupioni is a type of silk that is often used in wedding dresses. No wonder I never heard of it! If there is one thing that is never mentioned in the same sentence, it's my name and wedding dresses! Anyways, the quality of this polish is very good. Yes, the bottle cap is a bit awkward to hold, but the brush itself is really wide and the formula is not watery which lead to a very smooth application overall. I would have expected a white shimmer to be extremely streaky but this polish wasn't at all. I'm not sure how often I would use this colour, since for some reason, I find white polish sort of makes nails look like they're fake, but I'm going to hang onto it because it's such good quality.
I've haven't been shopping yet in the new year but I wanted a new polish to play with. So I grabbed some old polishes and whipped up a Frankenpolish so that I had something new. I took Respect the World Nicole by OPI, Glow by Sally Hansen and Creative Nail Designs Hyde in the Dark, mixed them together and got this:

Hmm, Not Bad! |
Left to Right: Respect the World, Glow, Hyde in the Dark & Frankenpolish |
Although I'm really pleased with the result, it made me think of a couple of green polishes that I already had , namely Irene by Zoya & Leaf Him at the Alter from Sephora by OPI so I swatched them for a quick comparison:
Yay! Looks like they're not that similar after all, since the frankenpolish has so much gunmetal in it and I've got a new toy to play with!
Last but not least, I would like to give a shout out to my very first follower, Jessica! Thanks to you, I'm feeling a lot more motivated to keep posting! Until the next time, don't break a nail!
