Tease - y Does It by OPI & Versace V2030 - W

More holiday polish! I picked up OPI's Tease - y Does It from the Burlesque/Holiday Collection for 2010 as I need to limit myself but also because clunky glitter polish isn't really my favourite kind of polish.  Once in a while I see one I really like, but most of the time, I give them a pass because I hate removing it.  But look how nice this is!  It`s a dark purple with red micro glitter that looks very dressy to me and I like it a lot.

Honestly, when I first heard about the upcoming film, Burlesque, I couldn't help but make the obvious comparison between it and Paul Verhoeven`s 1995 so bad it`s awesome film Showgirls!

It`s a Ver-sayce!

Showgirls 2.0
Frankly, I wish that OPI was doing product tie-ins back in 1995 because Nomi Malone in showgirls is all about her nails:

Maybe You Could Do My Nails...
Hi Nomi, I Love Your Nails
Nomi even does her nails right before she goes out to beat up and cut the man who raped her best friend:

It`s From the Hell Hath No Fury Collection!

One of my favourite lines from the movie comes when Nomi shows up at the casino offices in the new dress she bought:

Zack Carey: Nice dress.
Nomi Malone: Thanks. It's a Ver-sayce
Zack Carey: It's "Versace".
Nomi Malone: What?
Zack Carey: It's Versace. It's pronounced "Versace".
Nomi Malone: Oh.
And that brings me to one of the two items that I own that are Versace:  A leather glasses case and a bottle of nail polish that is at least 15 years old.

Bottle Top with Versace`s Medusa Head Logo
The polish doesn`t have a name, just a number and it`s a kind of warm caramel/warm brown with a hint of shimmer to it.  It took hours to dry even with a quick dry top coat!  I did my nails in the afternoon but woke up to a PJ imprint the next morning on my pinkie.

Even though I had application problems, I wouldn`t trash this polish.  I like the colour and I have no idea where I would find another bottle.

I don`t know if I`ll be going to see Burlesque in theaters.  I don`t care for Xtina and I`m just bored with the Antins perspective on what`s entertaining but it has Cher and she is hard for me to resist!

Essie Winter Collection 2010 Minis

Left to right: Hot Coco, Going Incognito, Silken Cord, Masquerade Belle
The holidays are coming up and I'm trying to get in the festive mood with some "Christmas" colours.  So I picked up the Essie Winter Collection Minis for 2010.  I'm starting to like Essie colours more and more since they've been a bit more adventurous with polish colours than they used to be.  No longer sticking to reds and pinks, I now come to expect that Essie will be putting out greens and blues on a regular basis:

These four creme colours certainly say "Christmas" to me even though the polish names don't and that's fine. No need to go overboard and get gimmicky all of the time!  The application had two real stand outs with Silken Cord being the best and Masquerade Belle being the worst.  Silken Cord went on perfectly in two coats while Masquerade Belle was kind of streaky.  Hot Coco and Going Incognito are in the middle with no real problems so 3 out of 4 is pretty good.

As far as the colours go, you get a medium taupe, forest green, bright red and a deep wine in this set.  I'm very fond of Hot Coco and Going Incognito cause taupe and green are my thing but I could do without Masquerade Belle.  It's pretty, but I've ODed on wine polishes lately so it's not a must have for me.  As for Silken Cord, my photos cannot begin to capture how intense a red it really is.  It's so bright I would swear it could guide Santa's sleigh through a Christmas Eve Storm...

Not that it could ever replace you Sweetie!

I can recommend the set as a whole but if I was going to buy just one colour, Going Incognito would be my choice with Silken Cord and Hot Coco in a tie for second.

Sew Pysched By Essie

Well, it took a while for my local Trade Secrets to get the new Essie Fall 2010 line in stock but it finally showed up!  Sew Pysched is a cool green/grey with the slightness bit of shimmer in it.  So slight that it's barely detectable on the nail and to the camera that I might as well take it out of my shimmer section of my polish collection. As you can see, it dries to a darker colour than it is in the bottle but still has that green tint to it.  Application was pretty good, at two coats it's totally opaque and it doesn't bare any resemblance to any grey polish I already have.

I know that there's been a lot of grey polish in the last few years and I hope that they never go away.  I've always loved all types of grey in my wardrobe so for me, grey polish is a must.  Grey is a neutral and neutrals can go with just about anything.

The Colour to Watch By OPI

If by chance I actually have any readers and you are from the US, you are probably thinking that I spelled the name of the polish wrong. Well, I'm Canadian and up here "color" is spelled "colour" and that is the way I like it. I finally got my hands on The Colour to Watch and I'd like to thank the staff at The Beauty Outlet at the corner of Yonge & Eglinton in T.O. for sending this polish from an out of town store to their location instead of having me run around town looking for it.

I love lavender but oddly enough, most of the lavender polishes I have are cremes so I was excited to see this lavender with a pretty blue shimmer in it. It's formula is consistent as it usually is when it comes to OPI and it took me three coats to get to this opacity but the dry time was fairly quick. I topped it off with a coat of Seche Vite because since I was travelling for Labour Day weekend and I didn't want to spend time doing my nails. It lasted 4 days without a chip with the added bonus of not chipping while I explored an abandoned building in Stratford, ON, which has got to be the cleanest city I have ever seen...

An Alley in Stratford, ON

I love this pretty colour and liked how well it wore and I'm glad the Beauty Outlet girls went the extra mile to keep my business!

Susie Says Feng Shui By OPI

I know that I'm late to the party with my review here but I am new to nail blogging and I do have limited finances. Hopefully my situation will change soon. Susie Says Feng Shui is part of OPI's Hong Kong Spring/Summer collection for 2010 and it's lovely! I've said before that I really love blue nail polish but this one is definitely one of my favourites out of my collection. It reminds me of the blue of the sky when you look up as high as you can.

Although it's part of the Spring/Summer Collection, I don't look at it as being very warm weather-like as I feel that it can carry over into fall since it's not overly bright and I personally like cremes for autumn.

The quality of the polish is very high. It applied smoothly, had no bubbling and no VTW. I applied 2 coats in the first picture.
